2016 American Tournament

This page provides details for the forthcoming annual American Tournament held in honour and memory of Colin Smith. For those of you who do not know, Colin was Chairman of the club for many years and also was involved in getting funding for our clubhouse floodlights. Unfortunately he died whilst playing the game he loved for the club and the bench at the side of the clubhouse is in his memory. Each year we hold an open American tournament and the profits from the day are divided between the club and the British Heart Foundation. We have a BBQ and ask you to provide food such as Salads, cakes etc to go with the BBQ food. The entry fee is £5 per person whether playing or just coming to the BBQ.

Tournament Format of Play

The format is adults mixed doubles with names randomly drawn from 'The Hat' to find your partner. You play a series of matches then swap and play against your original partner. The top four people go through to play a semi-final and then final. This is all for fun and not a serious competition so the more the merrier.

Gentlemen, be warned... if the men outnumber the ladies some of the men will become ladies for the afternoon as Martina Sime can testify!

Dress loud, Dress Proud and have fun! Meet at the club @ 12:30.

Please enter via the notice board in the clubhouse (preferably) or alternatively email Carol Smith. Cost is £5 per person.

Please come and join us, take photo's and bring some food to contribute to the BBQ and have fun. Results, photo's and other news from the day will be posted online after the event.
